Nutrition in Tropical Climate
Cats in Mauritius have unique nutritional needs due to our tropical climate:
- Hydration: Cats naturally have low thirst drive. Ensure constant access to fresh water, especially in hot weather.
- Food Storage: Store dry food in airtight containers to prevent mold in humid conditions.
- Meal Timing: Feed during cooler parts of the day (early morning/evening).
- Fresh Food: Wet food spoils quickly - don't leave it out for more than 20-30 minutes.
- Protein Needs: Cats are obligate carnivores and need high-quality animal protein.
