When to See a Vet in Mauritius
Emergency Symptoms - Seek Immediate Care
- Difficulty breathing or gasping for air
- Severe bleeding that won't stop
- Seizures or convulsions
- Collapse or inability to stand
- Swollen, hard abdomen (especially in large dogs - could be bloat)
- Severe trauma or accident injuries
- Possible poisoning or toxin ingestion
- Prolonged vomiting or diarrhea with blood
- Inability to urinate
- Eye injuries or sudden blindness
Urgent Symptoms - See Vet Within 24 Hours
- Multiple episodes of vomiting or diarrhea
- Not eating for more than 24 hours
- Severe lethargy or weakness
- Limping or signs of pain
- Excessive thirst or urination (especially in Mauritius heat)
- Coughing that persists or worsens
- Signs of heatstroke (excessive panting, drooling)
- Skin problems with bleeding or oozing
Monitor Symptoms - Call if Worsens
- Mild decrease in appetite for 1-2 meals
- Single episode of vomiting (no other symptoms)
